Gosford Pirates Baseball Club is involved across all levels of junior baseball on the Central Coast.
Tee Ball is a simplified version of baseball and is intended as an introduction for children aged four to seven to develop ball-game skills and have fun. Players hit a modified, softer baseball from a stationary tee, allowing children to learn batting, catching, base running and throwing.
Zooka or Machine Ball builds on the skills learned in Tee Ball and moves children another step closer to baseball. A modified, softer baseball is pitched from a Zooka pitching machine, providing a consistent pitch to the batter.
Little League begins a player’s exposure to the skills needed for senior baseball. The game uses modified rules designed to maximise development and enjoyment.
The next step in a player’s skill development. Modified rules allow each age group to maximise development and enjoyment.
The final junior step as players prepare to move into senior adult competition.
All junior games are generally played on Sunday mornings.
The club has historically supplied the game-day shirt for the season. Families provide grey baseball pants, suitable footwear and a baseball glove. Contact the club to confirm current requirements.
The main goal is for children to have fun. Each player receives plenty of at-bats and usually fields in a different position each inning. Coaches only assign positions where players are comfortable, and softer balls are used.
The summer season has historically commenced in mid-October and finished in February. Contact the club for current dates.
A game generally takes about one hour. Coaches usually ask players to arrive around 30 minutes before the start to warm up and get organised.
Yes. The coach organises the day and time. A typical junior training session runs for about one hour during the week.
Games are generally played on Sunday mornings on a home-and-away basis, including Hylton Moore Oval at East Gosford and Wattanobbi Oval. Games have commonly started around 9:00 am.
Games are not normally played during school holidays.
The club will do its best to place children with their friends. Provide the relevant names when contacting the club.

Each team has a manager and at least one coach who meets the required Working With Children requirements.

That is not a problem. Coaching and training sessions develop fundamental movement and baseball skills.
The next step is Machine Pitch, where players hit a moving ball delivered from a Zooka machine. Live pitching begins as players move into older age groups.
